Calen & Jessica Souther

Calen and Jessica combined have been in the agriculture business for over four decades. Their love for animals and the outdoors is what spurred them onto purchasing the large tract of land now known as, Wacissa Oaks Farm.

 

 Jessica is a USDF "L" Graduate, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist.  She has been a professional in the equine industry for over 20 years.  For 11 of those years she owned and operated the large Dressage training and sales barn, Avalon Farm, LLC, based in Gainesville, Georgia.  There she designed and built a state of the art training facility, where she successfully taught clients and trained horses in Dressage and Equitation from Intro through the FEI levels.  Many of her clients earned their USDF medals, Regional Championship Titles, National Placings, and Year End High Honor Awards.  Jessica brought along her four personal horses in the move to FL and intends to refocus on her own training and competition career.

 

Calen has been a Certified Farrier for over 20 years.  He specializes in corrective shoeing and enjoys working with and adjusting the mechanics to enhance a horse's natural gait.  Calen has worked with horses and livestock for many years and recently started his own small herd of Brangus Cattle spring of 2019.  Calen plans to expand the herd with more quality Brangus cows and continue with the introduction of Beefmaster to improve genetics.
